About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New York and I have been working with adolescents, young adults and families for 10+ years helping countless individuals work through life’s most difficult moments. I am well versed in treating anxiety, depression and trauma-related issues. I am skilled in teaching stress management to help anyone work through the challenges brought on by everyday life. I have been able to expertly build relationships with people who have had difficulties in therapy before with my unique approach and humorous personal touch.

I attended New York University’s Silver School of Social Work to gain my Masters in Social Work graduate degree. Upon graduation, I worked in an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving children and adolescents where I strengthened my engagement and group therapy skills. Shortly thereafter, I began working at a mental health clinic in White Plains as a psychotherapist for children, adolescents and families.

I have presented with other professionals on a discussion panel for the 2015 International Attachment Conference illuminating the work achieved through a program promoting stronger relationships between parents and children. Within this program, I learned invaluable techniques in helping parents and their children build stronger, more effective communication styles resulting in more secure relationships within the family.

It is the belief at Alyson Cohen Therapy that the most valuable aspect of promoting change through therapy is in the relationship between the therapist and client.
